ED – Risk Analytics (Model Development)
Our client, a leading global financial services institution with strong franchises across investment banking, investment management, wealth management, and hedge funds, is seeking an Executive Director to lead its Risk Analytics – Model Development and Methodologies function in Mumbai. This is a leadership role that oversees a large team responsible for building and enhancing models across Credit Risk, Market Risk, CCAR, Stress Testing, and VaR.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Firm Risk Management and global business units to safeguard the firm’s capital base, strengthen the control environment, and support the firm’s risk appetite framework.
- Lead the development, enhancement, and validation support of risk models including Credit Risk, Market Risk, CCAR/Stress Testing, and VaR. Advise business partners on model implications, risk mitigation strategies, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive the creation of robust analytical tools, methodologies, dashboards, and metrics to support risk identification, monitoring, and strategic decision-making.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a large and diverse team of quantitative professionals. Foster a culture of meritocracy, collaboration, innovation, and high performance, with a strong focus on employee engagement and retention.
- Contribute to key regulatory initiatives, audits, and model governance processes, ensuring alignment with global regulatory standards and internal risk frameworks.
Required Experience & Skills
- 15+ years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably in a quantitative, risk, or analytics domain within a global bank or financial institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering).
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in risk model development—Credit Risk, Market Risk, Stress Testing, CCAR, VaR, or related areas.
- Strong hands-on Python programming experience for model development, data analysis, and prototyping.
- Proven leadership experience managing large high-performing quantitative teams, ideally in a global, matrixed environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and convey complex quantitative concepts clearly.
